Rolling mill for wedding rings
RING MILL

This rolling mill was designed for producing wedding rings (flat, rounded, twisted, hollow, trapezoidal) that are not welded, starting from a semi-worked ring and obtaining the finished product that only requires polishing.
The blanking of rings with a calibrated weight permits the production of wedding rings of identical weight, regardless of shape or size. In fact, the work process does not remove material, but merely gradually shapes the original semi-worked piece.
The original rings are obtained by a blanking or fly press and subsequently drawn to obtain the semi-worked ring.
The forming unit on the machine rolls the base ring to obtain the desired shape and size in just one fast, accurate process.
The machine has a micrometrical controlled automatic stop device to determine the exact diameter of the ring, and an automatic tracer point that keeps the ring in position and ensures perfect uniformity.

Step 1 (Blanking, fig. 1) Flat washer-like blanks are obtained from a metal bar with a height of 2 mm. A cutting die for each final ring height is needed to obtain the final ring size.

Step 2 (Drawing, fig. 2) Two operations are performed with separate dies. In the first step, the blank is formed into a conical shape, and then the second die is used to reverse the surfaces (inside/outside) to obtain a cylindrical blank. Two drawing dies are needed for each final ring height.

Step 3 (Cambering, fig. 3) Only for cambered rings, a die is used to reduce the height of the ring and creates a curve on the outer surface. The die is universal and is provided with different internal spacers to the various final height of the ring.

Step 4 (Rolling, fig. 4) The ring rolling mill is used with special devices for cambered or flat wedding rings.
- For cambered rings, a roller with half-round groove (a roller for each ring size), and a synthetic ring guide block are used.
- For flat rings, a three-wheel system adjusted by way of inserts and a synthetic ring guide block is used to create rings in various heights.

Step 5 (calibration) For cambered and flat rings, the internal diameter (16 ÷ 22 mm) is calibrated throught a series of gauges for rings of all sizes and heights.
Diamond turning lathe
TDP

The TDP diamond facetting lathe, with pneumatic chucking, is a precision machine tool, with cast iron structural parts, carefully matched and machined, which ensure a structural rigidity and machining accuracy to within a hundredth of mm.
The spindle is mounted on special needle bearings with reduced run-out. Several series of fixtures, easily and quickly interchangeable, allows widely different machining operations to be carried out, such as: inside of wedding rings, outside of wedding rings, outside of crowned wedding rings, inside of bangles, outside of bangles, bars or tubes, besides the typical operations of a standard precision lathe.
The quick workpiece clamping system allows working on a medium or large batch production scale. Depending on the various requirements, the lathe can be equipped with basic fixtures and the number of chucks to cover all the various types of parts to be produced. The lathe has an electronic inverter drive with digital display which allows infinitely variable turning speed ranging from zero to max. speed according to the various work requirements. The lathe is provided with two toolholder slides, each with rapid cross and longitudinal traverses, adjustable via special micrometric stops.
Optionally, it is possible to apply four micrometers on the stops for precision reading. The slides can be swivelled by ± 45° and are placed on a single slide with longitudinal adjustment on the lathe bed.
The standard lathe accessories complete with a quick-closing, lever-operated tailstock. The lathe can be equipped with various optional fixtures, such as a self-centering chuck, a tailstock with handwheel closing, an oil mist lubrication system for lubrication of the workpieces.
